Depending on your choice of protein, we have a few options for you. You may notice the selections are all French but that’s just the way we’re rolling in this instance. They’re all solid wines and will pair superbly.

The Bird (or perhaps the To-furkey)
Champalou Vouvray Sec 2018
Loire
100% Chenin Blanc
Owned by the Didier family since 1983 and produced with sustainable vineyard practices.
A delicate straw yellow in colour. Aromas of green apples and quince, there’s a nice weight and supple mouth feel to this wine that makes it a great pairing with Turkey, complete with the stuffing. Alternatively, it has a refreshing acidity that would work well for those of you leaning to the soy based option.

Ham
Clos de Roilette Fleurie 2018
Cru Beaujolais
100% Gamay
A long time fave of the Coast Culinary Collective cellar. Owned by the Coudert family since 1967, and currently under the direction of the 2nd generation Alain Coudert, Clos de Roilette is considered the epitomy of producers in the region.
The wine possesses aromas of red & blue fruits and a suggestion of fruitcake following up with raspberries and boysenberry on the palate. That fruitcake quality continues on through which would work very well if you’re of the “clove studded ham” school.

Lamb or Beef
Cailleteau Bergeron “Clos Mansio” 2015
Blaye – Cotes de Bordeaux
70% Merlot/ 30% Malbec
A value driven option from a region not often associated as such, Clos Mansio is a single vineyard chateau in the Right Bank of the appellation. Owned by the brother and sister team Pierre-Charles and Marie-Pierre Dartier, all the fruit for this rich red is from sustainably grown grapes. The Dartiers fashion their wines in a more New World style with riper fruit and a little more toast on the nose and palate from the barrels. The resulting wine has a big core of black currant flavours with a hint of mint. This is why the Clos Mansio will pair so well with either a roast of lamb of beef.
